Yana Reutova worked as a dancer, choreographer and teacher in the Odesa region, Ukraine. In 2014 she founded Dance Theatre Plastilin in Chornomorsk and created several performances receiving awards. She organized the “Dance Platform Most” festival and worked with children (Creative Kids project) and her students. After that she started the “Speaking with the Body“ festival, which took place only once.
In March 2022, she took her daughter and several students and fled from the war to Prague, where she has been working since then. She danced in projects by Anna Källblad, Nicole Beutler, POCKETART, Flávia Tápias and herself leads workshops for children and develops her own creative work with various artists. She made interactive performances “On the Road” and “Childhood Time” as part of the project for Ukrainian refugee children. In April 2023 she created a project for the gallery with Czech and Ukrainian artists “Strength in Beauty and Beauty in Strength”. She works on the triptych “Together Alone” with dancers from Ukraine, Czech Republic and Burkina Faso.
Creative collaboration with her youngest dancer, Diana Khruhsch, was awarded by the international jury of the Czech Dance Platform by Special mention. The triptych concept “Together Alone” succeeded in the European competition within the first EFFEA (European Festival Fund for Emerging Artists) Open Call and it is thus one of the 40 supported projects. Its first part has already been invited to festivals in Vilnius (LT, May 2023) and Barcelona (ES, June 2023). The world premiere of the triptych: Kilowatt Festival – Cortona (IT, 21. 7. 2023).
